Designed as the centrepiece of a mountain chalet at Big White Ski Resort near Kelowna, this expansive kitchen needed to be both highly functional and visually striking. With more than 6,400 square feet of living space and room to entertain up to 20 guests, the kitchen was planned to support gathering, hosting, and everyday chalet living.
The open layout connects seamlessly to the dining room, two-storey living space, and decks overlooking the Monashee Mountains. Storage and workflow were carefully prioritized, with dual sinks, dishwashers, ovens, wine fridges, an ice maker, and a separate pantry with its own fridge, freezer, and extensive shelving.
Built for Entertaining
With space designed to host up to 20 guests, this kitchen needed to perform well beyond everyday use. Multiple sinks, dishwashers, ovens, wine fridges, an ice maker, and a fully equipped pantry support efficient prep, serving, and cleanup for large gatherings.
Seamless Open Layout
The kitchen connects naturally to the dining room, two-storey living space, and outdoor decks, keeping the space open, social, and connected to the mountain setting. Sightlines were carefully maintained so the kitchen could function as a working zone while staying part of the larger gathering space.
Live-Edge Fir Bar Top
A 16-foot live-edge fir slab bar top adds warmth, texture, and a natural focal point. Integrated outlets and USB charging make the bar practical for entertaining, casual seating, and everyday use.
Appliance Garage
An appliance garage with a roll-top door keeps small appliances accessible while maintaining the kitchen’s clean, streamlined look.
