A legacy built over generations
Since 1971, Merit Kitchens has built a reputation for quality cabinetry grounded in craftsmanship, consistency, and practical design.
Founded by skilled craftspeople in British Columbia, Merit first established its name by supplying dependable, well-made cabinetry throughout Western Canada. Over the decades, the company expanded beyond its regional roots, developing a trusted dealer network and bringing Merit cabinetry into homes across Canada, the United States, and select international markets.
The Siekmann family’s own cabinetry legacy began in 1919, when August Siekmann founded Aug. Siekmann Möbelwerke in Germany. That manufacturing knowledge and commitment to the craft continued across generations. In 2000, the family took over the operations of Merit Kitchens, bringing more than 80 years of cabinetry experience and a long-term commitment to quality, innovation, and strong dealer relationships.
Today, Merit is led by fourth-generation cabinetry manufacturers. By combining generations of experience with modern manufacturing technology, the company continues to evolve its made-to-order, semi-custom offering while remaining focused on what matters most: cabinetry that is beautiful, functional, dependable, and designed for everyday life

2012
Lectus Cabinets is introduced
Merit introduces Lectus Cabinets, a value-driven semi-custom cabinetry line designed to offer homeowners a balance of price, quality, and choice while continuing to be manufactured in Canada.
2021
Merit celebrates 50 years with the Westcoast Five-O door
To mark Merit’s 50th anniversary, the Westcoast Five-O door style is introduced. Inspired by classic v-groove detailing, the design honours Merit’s history while bringing a fresh, versatile profile to contemporary cabinetry.

A fourth generation carries the vision forward
A new generation of the Siekmann family continues the family’s cabinetry manufacturing legacy at Merit Kitchens, building on decades of industry experience while carrying the company forward for the future.
